We were able to ditch the kids at school (with a grandparent pickup!) to allow us to get to the Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow in Melbourne to start our research for a family caravan. Our plan is to take the full year in 2020 to lap Australia as a family, and getting the right caravan is going to be really important! Currently we do our camping in a tent.
Going into the show at the Melbourne Showgrounds, we had an idea on what we wanted in a family van. We have three children, so we will need a triple bunk. We’re going for a year so would like a washing machine. We didn’t like the idea of the integrated shower and toilet, and knew we had to have enough seating at the table for 5.
But getting to the Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, it really gave us a lot more to look at, the ability to compare different layouts, different manufacturers, finishes and concepts. We even found some things that we hadn’t even thought of, like the slide out camp kitchen which is absolutely straight onto the must-have list.
We’re also planning to Discover Tasmania in 5 weeks on the Spirit of Tasmania, so it was a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to Caravanning with Kids and ask them all about what we should be doing both on this camping trip and then our future caravavning trip in 2020. Check out the video for what we found out at the show. Attendance is highly recommended if you are starting out on your caravan research, like us. It was a great way to accelerate the planning of our future #todoing.
