This is a destination to add to your To Doing list. Both locals and travelers will love visiting and staying at Woodhouse Activity Centre in the Adelaide Hills. It is a Scout camp, but open for the general public year round.
A huge camping area is suited to both tents and caravan camping. Modern bathroom facilities have ample toilets and showers and there is a camp kitchen and multiple undercover eating areas for families or groups.
Woodhouse is the ultimate destination for adventure and team work. Challenge Hill was a blast! Our family loved the variety of challenges, nominating at least one family member for each obstacle. Harry was very reluctant at the beginning, but by the end he was scaling ladders and climbs and crawling through the mouse trap. The kids cheered for Steph to get wet in the river and climb the rock wall.
A morning of frisbee golf (frisbees provided) was a less strenuous family activity that saw us all begging Jed to launch our frisbees with his super throwing arm.
When night time rolls around, it’s almost obligatory to grab a torch and ead out for night walk. We saw koalas, possums and heard cicadas and frogs. During the day we spotted lizards and lots of mini beasts (thankfully they all kept to themselves!)
The brand new tube slide is the ultimate for a slide lover. There are also orienteering courses and the Labyrinth maze.
This is a great destination for a day visit, overnight stay or a few nights. Very rarely will you find a one-stop destination that you can stay at with so many activities onsite. It is the perfect way to connect with nature and enjoy time as a family or team, for the adventurous and those developing their confidence. Kids and adults alike will have a ball!
