No matter where or how you live, grocery shopping is a fact of life! One of the obvious differences when living in a caravan is the space (or lack thereof) to store food.
We have three very hungry boys (excluding Justin!) and boy do they like to eat. Being so active, we have noted a considerable increase in their appetite.
Despite this, we aim to shop for about three weeks of food at a time. We have a few tricks to store enough food for this period…check them out in our video!
When visiting remote areas, you may find that access to shops is restricted, or prices are higher than expected. Shopping in advance means less trips to the shops, and having food on hand makes life easier. Coming back to the van after a day of sightseeing, it is great to have easy-prep meals on hand.
Another huge consideration is budget! Food can be one of your highest areas of spending, and any savings can mean more money to spend on travel and experiences. The Entertainment Book is a great way to save a stack of money on food (and other areas). We pre-purchase eWish Gift Cards and save 5% off all of our shopping at Woolworths.
We would love to hear your tips for shopping and saving on food. Pop them in the comments below! Stay tuned for more videos and articles on food whilst living in a caravan.
