Uluru is literally the heart of Australia, and on this big lap of Australia we were looking forward to checking it’s heartbeat. When we first saw it in the background, we were literally pinching ourselves.
We based ourselves at the Ayers Rock Resort, which is currently the only accommodation immediately within the local area.
We chose not to climb Uluru. Yes you can do it, and it’s your own choice. For us we wanted to find out if the locals climb it, and if they do why. We were advised they don’t, and learnt the story behind not climbing the rock. As a result we walked, rode and drove around the rock and we really felt we connected with it and saw all we needed to.
Each to their own, but we really enjoyed our time at Uluru.
