Not many places still burn their sugar cane, even fewer allow you to camp amoungst all the action. We found a gem of a stay at the Burdekin Cane Farm Stay in the Burdekin.
We were really well looked after and ended up staying at the farm for a full week. Too nice, too relaxed and a great host in Greg. He was very generous with his time, our trip to the sugar cane burning was a highlight.
The Cane Farm Stay is really close to Ayr, which we headed in and out of for supplies, to swim in the local pool and visit the local library.
After our stay we moved on towards Lake Proserpine, but called into Bowen for an amazing snorkeling and swim experience.
We had heard of a brand new WikiCamps free camp, Lake Proserpine, literally opening up the week we were looking for our next stop. It was pretty raw, but absolutely stunning and we had the best time!
It was a truly beautiful spot and we enjoyed happy hours as the sun went down.
Lake Proserpine, Proserpine and Airlie Beach are all part of the Whitsundays region. We headed in to one of the most well known and awarded caravan parks in Australia, Adventure Whitsundays.
It was a great spot to hang out, the kids had a blast riding the 13 different waterslides spread throughout the resort pool area.
