When planning a family holiday, how do you go about it? We often like to get a lot done, especially when going to a new location or on a tour. For example when we recently completed our trip to Tasmania by Cabin & Car we put a lot of effort in and planning to ensure we had tickets booked, accommodation organized and a general plan to fit it all in. but where do you start?
We like to start our research with things we would like to do. We get the kids involved too, with the power of the internet making it easy for them to search and find local child or family focused activities, exhibits or adventure.
Once we have the big ticket items selected we like to draw them up on a map. You can do this on a paper map, but we are fortunate to have both a projector and a whiteboard in Justin’s office so that makes it easy to project up the map and draw away.
Everyone gets involved and with everything up on the map it makes it a lot easier to start to mark out a route and ultimately an itinerary which can then be matched with travel plans, accommodation and transport.
In the image above we have started work on our Japan family holiday in July. We’ve found some great things we would love to do and try, visit or view, and look forward to sharing this all with you shortly.
