So you want to get to QLD from the NT? Or perhaps to the Northern Territory from Queensland? Well you have three main options. You can take the Barkly Highway, that great stretch of black stuff. Just like everyone else. Or you can head up to the Savannah Way, which we have heard isn’t the best at the moment with little water around. We didn’t find one person who thought this was a good idea – we decided to tackle the Plenty Highway, part of the Outback Way.
It was amazing, fantastic and we had hardly any other cars around. After checking out Gemtree for a bit of fossicking, the real adventure started.
There are a number of different free camps and station stays along the route, we stayed at a couple of ripper free camps along the way. All on our own, in the middle of the outback!
Check out the video above for all of our tips and the adventure of travelling the Outback Way via the Plenty Highway.
