This was our first time camping by the water on our Lap Of Australia…and we absolutely loved it. The park has a variety of powered and unpowered sites and cabins, some on the waterfront, the others just a row or two back. It is next to a community BBQ area and walking distance into town.
The lady in the office was very helpful, even printing a
document for us when needed. She tolerated our boy’s multiple visits for fish
bait (cans of corn!).
Jed, Alex and Harry discovered a love of fishing, spending
days by the waterfront casting their reels in and out. They did catch a couple,
that sadly got away as they were being pulled in…some technique refinement is
needed!

It is a great park for the kids to ride their bikes. Harry even learnt to ride a bike by himself! The boys enjoyed riding to the playground and the giant chess board. Next to the chess board is the camp kitchen, with indoor and outdoor cooking facilities, and a lounge area for those wanting to escape the weather.
The town of Meningie is worth exploring, with a decent shopping strip (including butcher, bakery, Foodworks and information centre). Free bike hire is available, with advise on local riding tracks. There is a great playground and picnic area, and it is the perfect spot to make a day trip to the Aboriginal community of Raukkan, home of David Unaipon who is on the $50 note.
This is a great spot for those looking for some time out by
the water, or stopping for a couple of days.
