South Australia – WOW! It is massively underrated, or perhaps undersold. There is so much to see and do, great diversity, stunning beaches, plenty of adventure to be had. The list just goes on and on. This is our itinerary for South Australia, where we went and for how long.
Limestone Coast (A)
We stayed in Mount Gambier and Robe, we explored caves, sinkholes, drove on beaches, climbed old volcanoes and learnt about this stunning geological wonderland that is the Limestone Coast.

The Murraylands (B)
We had a great time in the Murraylands, getting to see where the mighty Murray River passes out to sea via South Australia. There are some great free camps, stunning waterways and a great contrast between the coast and inland up at Tailem Bend and Murray Bridge.

Fleurieu Peninsula (C)
Stunning beaches, great fishing and clear nights highlighted our stay on the Fleurieu Peninsula. We stayed at Victor Harbor and Rapid Bay, honing our fishing skills in between swimming in crystal clear waters.

Adelaide Hills (D)
So much to do and see in the Adelaide Hills. We went back in time to Handorf, a wonderful German settlement with great food and beer. We took multiple scenic trails taking us to breathtaking lookouts, past wineries, attractions and perfect spots for budding foodies. We stayed at the Woodhouse Scout Camp & Activity Centre.

City of Adelaide (E)
Wow what a reception we recieved in Adelaide and Port Adelaide. A free concert, fireworks and parade. Ok, maybe not just for us, it was Australia Day, but we thoroughly enjoyed the city, it’s sites and our stay at West Beach and then Port Adelaide.

Yorke Peninsula (F)
‘Yorkes’, as it is known to the locals, it a fantastic peninsula where we watched stunning sunsets, swam, fished and explored in a very tourist friendly region. We stayed at Innes National Park and then Moonta, taking in a fishing tour to catch some Blue Swimmer Crabs, Whiting and Snapper.

Flinders Ranges (G)
A highlight of our trip, we just about had the Flinders Ranges to ourselves, but for the odd European Tourist. We drove around, up and into Wilpena Pound, honed our four wheel driving skills and visited the outback for the first time.

Eyre Peninsula (H)
Eyre is perhaps the most well known, and certainly the biggest peninsula in South Australia. It has amazing beach camps, right on the water, where on the west coast you can watch stunning sunsets over the water.

The Nullarbor (I)
It is not what you expect. Wow what an entertaining drive from South Australia into Western Australia. There is plenty to see, do and explore, plenty of options for food, water and fuel, and you really need at least 5 days to fully experience the Nullarbor.
